We stayed for two nights with the deal of a bottle of wine if we ate an evening meal on the first night and fizzy afternoon tea on the second day. Both didn’t disappoint. The food was exceptional. The afternoon tea was so huge we had a ‘doggy bag’ for the leftovers and breakfast was very good. The room was lovely, positioned at the back.

The room was lovely – warm, comfortable, and spotlessly clean. The bar area was a real highlight: cosy and inviting with a beautiful open fire, perfect for unwinding after a long day. I’ll definitely be back with family when we’re next in the area. Highly recommend for anyone looking for comfort, great food, and a touch of charm near Windermere.

We got married at Cragwood in early October and stayed 2 nights with a few friends. Rooms & food were really lovely. We had the ceremony by the lake and had a truly wonderful time. It’s close to Ambleside and ideal for exploring the Lake District. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel is also very dog-friendly. We would definitely stay again.

My parents have stayed at Briery Wood so many times, it was my first time, but now I know why out of all the hotels they have tried in the Lake District this is the one they keep returning to. Danny and his lovely time make it feel like a home from home, nothing is too much trouble.

We really loved our stay at Cragwood! The rooms were great and the setting is beautiful – right on the lake surrounded by gardens. We had the 5-course tasting menu both nights and the food was fantastic – it is really difficult to find fine dining experiences that are dog-friendly. All the staff were very accommodating and friendly. Would definitely recommend!

My daughters wedding at Merewood was perfect. We had full use of the hotel from Fri-Sun and from the moment we arrived until we (very reluctantly!) left, every member of staff made us feel comfortable and relaxed. They went “over and above” to ensure the weekend went without a hitch. The setting is beautiful, the rooms were lovely and the food was exceptional.
